Christoph Schaub

In the pursuit of insight into our human nature, Christoph resigned his intellectual studies and left his native Switzerland at age twenty-five to practice Zen Buddhism in the United States. Two years later, he was compelled to leave that path and thereafter took up the study of Sufism, under the tutelage of an Iranian Dervish. This was followed by a year-long sojourn through India, his engagement with Tibetan Buddhism and another three years spent in a Sufi community in North America.

After more than twelve years of spiritual study and practice, Christoph realized that spirituality, as taught and embodied, is as self-driven and inspires as much wanting and achieving as does our socio-cultural life, dominated by mindless consumerism. Upon learning to embrace an ordinary life, he happened to gain insight into that which he previously sought, but which he could never see because he was always too busy and distracted with something else. He gained insight into what he now refers to as our intrinsic wakefulness, which directs and informs our life’s course in each and every moment, even if we think otherwise.
